Citroen Relay LWB, 3 seat Welfare Vehicle in

The remit for this project was to create a welfare vehicle that looked like an ordinary crew-cab panel van from the outside, but provided comfortable overnight accommodation, mobile office, washroom facilities and catering appliances for when he was travelling on business between some remote and far-wide locations. Substantial storage beneath the 4’ wide bed was required for carrying stock and samples. All service connections and heater exhaust points that are usually located on the side of a motorhome are hidden from sight to belie the interior facilities.

The layout comprises a fixed bed at the rear of the van with the facility to provide additional sleeping bunks above. Seating for four is provided by a double passenger seat and twin single cab seats.

The front seats swivel to face the double rear seat around a removable sliding table. This allows a small conference area to engage with clients.

The washroom is equipped with a toilet, shower and washbasin. An additional hot water supply is in the loadspace area

Cooking facilities are provided by a twin burner gas hob and a gas oven / grill. The integrated washbowl has a glass cover that closes to form a flush finish with the worktop. Beneath the worktop there is also an 85 litre compressor fridge.

The mobile office area uses the rear double seat and sliding table to become a large desk area for catching up on essential office work whilst on the move. 240v power for supplying laptops, printers etc is available as an on-board inverter draws power from a secondary battery supply, bolstered with a 100W solar panel.
