Peugeot Boxer MWB, fixed bed, 2 seat, 2 berth

This conversion was designed for a long-term tour to take in the Scottish Highlands, the Mediterranean coast and the French Alps in one continuous road trip. The elevated double bed was set just high enough to be able sit up on, yet maintain storage space for a bike and other equipment beneath. The vehicle would be spending a considerable amount of time without the facility of electric hook up, so a large solar panel, high capacity leisure battery, split-charging system and a 3000W inverter had to be configured into the design. To save on interior space an underslung LPG tank has been fitted.

The layout comprises a fixed bed at the rear of the van and seating provided by turning the captain’s seats into the living area. The kitchen area, utility area and shower room in the centre of the van are designed to maximise the living equipment and create an air of space.

The front seats swivel to face into the living area. A removable island table provides a small dining area suitable for a 2-berth camper.

The washroom is equipped with a toilet and shower. A hot water outdoor shower has been fitted to the exterior for rinsing off sand after being to the beach.

Cooking facilities are provided by a twin burner gas hob as other cooking appliances would be portable and powered by the inverter. The slimline Thetford compressor fridge was a critical item of equipment to make the layout work on the medium wheel base model.
